Grafton Group plc has acquired Salvador Escoda, S.A., a leading Spanish distributor of air conditioning, ventilation, heating, and renewable products. The €132 million deal includes a €128 million upfront payment, with an additional €4 million contingent on financial performance. Founded in 1974, Salvador Escoda serves professional installers across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, with over 100,000 products and 93 branches across Spain. The acquisition aligns with Grafton’s strategy of expanding into fragmented markets with growth potential, particularly in Spain’s rapidly growing construction sector.

A report from the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) highlights widespread financial support for industrial heat pumps in Europe, with subsidies, loans, and tax refunds available in 24 countries. The report emphasizes that industrial heat pumps are a crucial part of Europe’s decarbonization efforts, as over 60% of industrial energy is used for heating. However, it also calls for more awareness and support to overcome barriers like high upfront costs. EHPA urges governments to prioritize heat pump installations as a key solution to reduce emissions and meet climate targets.
